Not wild but very interesting just the same. Black Barn Owls occur 1 in 100,000 and are the result of Melanism. Normally they would be killed by their parents but this one was bred in captivity and the pictures were taken at the Betley Game fair. Other photos from the fair which are included are Golden Eagles, Lanner falcons and Peregrines

EURASIAN EAGLE OWLS portfolio Controversy surrounds the breeding pairs of Eagle owls in the UK. According to the RSPB no evidence exists that Eagle Owls have ever originated from the UK and as such they are considered by some to be a "Alien Species" . The latest news is that the Eagle owl has been given a reprieve and that there is enough circumstantial evidence to believe that the owl once resided in the UK. At the moment there are believed to be about 30-40 breeding pairs in the UK and it is believed that the species will not be a threat to other wildlife.
